THE DO’S AND DON’TS!
You’re getting closer to your little one’s special day of the year. You’ve been privy to your soon-to-be one year older child’s many requests, including the latest toys and hosting a birthday party with all their friends.
One thing is for sure – birthday parties are never easy! Especially when the whole family needs to tighten their belt. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give your birthday child everything they desire (because of course they deserve everything in the whole wide world!), but keep in mind that there are some incredibly savvy ways to keep costs low and give your child the birthday party of their dreams. Sometimes shoe-string budgets can inspire us to get our ‘thrift’ on and create amazing parties that leave guests green with envy!
1. LESS IS MORE!
Sometimes we can get ahead of ourselves and go over the top with catering for parties. It’s easy to get caught up in expensive party trends and assume that kids want ridiculously glamorous parties.
However, truth be told, kids don’t want a ten-foot tall birthday cake or celebrity guests at their parties – they want to see their friends! Nothing would make them happier than having their best friends with them on their favourite day of the year. So remember, whenever you feel like nervously calling up a Kardashian to ask them to make a guest appearance at the party, try calling your birthday child’s friend from down the road instead.
While this cake is no doubt, awesome, it may be borderline OTT.
2. CLEARANCE WAREHOUSES ARE YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND.
Clearance warehouses and two dollar stores are your go-to place for bargains this party season! (Daiso and Costco – need I say more?) The relatively good quality inexpensive products in these warehouses are just waiting to be snatched up by thrifty parents. Whether you’re looking for food, decorations, yummy birthday cakes or ridiculously reduced gifts, there’s plenty of items up for grabs!
Meet your new bestie.
3. DON’T RULE OUT BYO!
Remember the signs outside restaurants that proudly say B.Y.O? Asking guests to bring a plate of food along may not only solve your food supply deficit, but it is also a great way to unite a lovely community of friends and family, as you share some fantastic home-cooked food. It goes without saying that it’s important and necessary to provide food too. However, a BYO plan is not only a great way to take some pressure off your wallet this party season, it’s a fantastic way of keeping things healthy and wholesome!
Party season doesn’t have to put you in hot water with your bank! It’s easier to have a great time with your family, friends and loved ones when there’s no pressure on you to keep up with your budget. You most certainly don’t have to compromise the life and soul of the party either thanks to the dedicated professionals at Functions of Fun – with affordable entertainment packages for every family out there, there’s a party pack to suit every mum, dad and bub this party season.
